A new tool for Oracle Unbreakable Linux will help administrators monitor and maintain servers running the company's Linux distribution. The Oracle Management Pack for Linux is based on the Redwood Shores, Calif.-based company's Enterprise Manager 10g and is free for Unbreakable Linux customers.
The software will include capabilities to handle provisioning, apply patches to the operating system, and configure and monitor servers. It also lets users monitor applications and databases running on those servers.
Oracle Unbreakable Linux is essentially a clone of Red Hat Corp.'s distribution.
The release of the Oracle Management Pack for Linux is the first major Linux-related announcement Oracle has made since it launched the Unbreakable Linux project in October.
