Microsoft partners provide Software Assurance deals on Win 7
XP and Vista shops migrating to the Windows 7 operating system can now receive Software Assurance deals from Microsoft. Enterprises that already run Vista won't get extra perks, and all other IT shops must foot any additional hardware costs.
Starting Sept. 1, Microsoft's enterprise customers can buy Windows 7 Professional from volume licensing partners, according to SearchEnterpriseDesktop.com. Microsoft partners can offer a 15% or more discount off the Windows 7 Professional upgrade for up to six months. Customers with the Windows Vista Business or Windows XP Professional operating system (OS) are eligible for the discount regardless of when the OS was bought.
VARs expecting business from electronic healthcare records
With The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, VARs could see a significant rise in the deployments of healthcare records, which would bring significant business opportunities for them.
The government plans to provide almost $20 billion in incentive payments to healthcare providers that demonstrate "meaningful use" of the electronic format, according to SearchITChannel.com. But as of now, meaningful use is open to interpretation, and most of the funding won't be available until 2010.
