OASIS approves its definition as standardized SOA reference model

The standards body OASIS has approved a standard reference model for service oriented architecture (SOA) applications.

The reference model provides a specific definition of SOA and of the relationships among the modules and applications within an SOA structure to help developers build maintainable structures.

The model is an abstract designed to help architects visualize the operation of SOA applications across an organization, not a technical document specific enough to guide the actual programming, analysts said.
