Q: How will you provide Vista training to your staff post-deployment?

About the author
J. Peter Bruzzese is an independent consultant and has worked for and with Goldman Sachs, CommVault Systems and Microsoft, among other clients. He focuses on corporate training and travels frequently to speak at conferences. Peter is the author of Tricks of the Windows Vista Masters and writes for Redmond Magazine. Listen to his supplemental podcast on Vista deployment to hear more information about compatibility problems and Vista vs. XP.

The question of Vista training should be addressed before deploying Vista, because there are different solutions for training people. You might be able to pool everyone together and hire in a consultant to give four-hour Vista training classes. You might decide to send your people off-site for Vista training. You might even decide to provide in-house Vista training through a variety of different screencasting methods (such as that offered by Cliptraining.com). Once the OS is deployed, the weakest link in the smooth transition will become the end user's lack of ability to use the new system. Eliminating those headaches ahead of time will prevent the backlash of frustration on the part of users and complaints about the new OS.
