Q: Are there any application interdependencies?

Meet the expert
Martin MacLeod is an IT consultant based in London with several years' experience deploying and supporting blade servers in volume. He also blogs at bladewatch.com, where he tracks news on blade servers, grids and virtualization. Listen to the rest of Martin's answers on blade server virtualization by downloading our blade server virtualization podcast.
Application interdependencies are important when you're scoping out the requirements in terms of which applications are going on to the blade solution, the virtual solution. How do they all work together in the event of an outage, or restoring service, or even during scheduled downtime? What needs to be brought up, and which levels, and in which order to provide everything running and interoperating for the end user? If an application has dependencies on this system being available, how do we manage all that in terms of bringing it all back online?

Return to the blade server virtualization FAQ guide and read the rest of Martin's expert responses.
