Why would I recommend Oracle VM to a client instead of Hyper-V or VMware?

>
While Oracle is a new entry in the VM world, the main reason I recommend Oracle is its low support costs ($499/year) and the fact that Oracle VM can be used to host its own applications, i.e. Oracle Application Server and Oracle Database 10g. As database servers do not traditionally perform well while hosted in a virtualized environment, I recommend extensive load testing to ensure that Oracle 10G will meet the SLAs in a virtualized environment.

That said, it's clear that the No. 1 reason an enterprise would prefer Oracle VM over the alternatives is because they have other Oracle products in the enterprise. Most other enterprises will stay within the familiar territory provided by its current virtual server software provider, despite the fact that Oracle boasts that its virtualization software is three times as efficient and a fraction of the cost of TCO than its competition. Oracle VM does not support Windows Server 2008 yet.
