QUESTION POSED ON: 27 February 2007
How can Web-based database support create a reoccurring revenue stream for VARs?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE
Providing DBA services can create revenue in many ways. From hosting a relationship database management systems (RBDM) for the client location, providing remote DBA services (sometimes called a virtual DBA), taking on project work (like a consolidation or upgrade), or providing maintenance operations, VARs can create contractual, reoccurring revenue streams with such services. They can also provide specialized services like implementing replication, clustering, or performance migrations when the client skill set is lacking or otherwise preoccupied.
